I am happy that you took the plunge to get a sewing machine!! I know how exciting and daunting that can be. Hemming your pants or the sleeves on your shirt is such a useful sewing skill. Actually, I think it is the most useful skill. Below is a video on how I hem my pants. You can use this technique in many ways. My favorite thing about hemming is that it expands what you are able to buy for yourself at a thrift store.
